Hi, I'm Peter.

I've been building websites for 20 years, and I run Local Car Sales and CarDealerCMS from Derby — a small team, not a call centre. (Also a trained, accredited hypnotherapist, for reasons entirely unrelated to cars — ask me about it if we ever talk.)

Why we're contacting you about a listing you didn't ask for

Your cars appeared on Local Car Sales because your dealership's stock is already published publicly on your own website — we built a search engine that indexes it, the same way Google indexes web pages. We didn't ask your permission first, because we're not changing anything on your site or charging you anything to appear. We just think buyers searching for a used car locally should be able to find independent dealers, not just the big portals.

That's also exactly why it can feel like a scam email at first glance — "you're already listed, click here to claim it free" is a sentence scammers use too. We can't undo that first impression by saying "trust us" in another email. So instead, here's everything you'd need to actually check.

The bigger point of all this: independent dealers deserve to be properly findable online without paying what AutoTrader and Cazoo charge for it. Local Car Sales itself is free. If you also want your own dealer website — not just a listing, an actual site with your own branding — that's CarDealerCMS, and even at full price, no discounts, it's £79 a month for your website and a listing on the national search here. That's the whole model. Not a free trial that quietly starts billing you more later — £79, total, indefinitely.

Claiming your listing is free, permanently — verified badge, priority placement, a monthly report of buyers we sent your way. There's no card required and no trial that quietly starts billing you.

The only paid thing is optional: £19/month if you want your live stock feed connected (photos and prices update automatically instead of us re-checking your site periodically). Nobody chases you to upgrade — it's there if you want it, ignored if you don't.

Is this a scam?

No — but we'd rather you check than just take our word for it. Ring 0800 644 4199, look up Website Designer Derby, or reply to any email we've sent you. If anything ever feels off, tell us and we'll sort it or remove your listing, no argument.

How did you get my stock without asking?

The same way it's already public on your own website — we read what's already published there, the same way a search engine does. We don't access anything private, and we don't charge you for appearing.

What's the catch with "free forever"?

There isn't one for the listing itself. We make money from the optional £19/month feed connection, and from dealers who choose to also get a website through CarDealerCMS. Most dealers on Local Car Sales pay us nothing at all.

I want my listing removed.
